At EAN 2022, Cristina Tassorelli, Professor of Neurology, University of Pavia, Italy, discussed how migraine episodes can last from hours to days. During these attacks, patients can be disabled by symptoms including not only pain, but also nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and phonophobia, necessitating rest, possibly in a quiet, dark room, and withdrawal from work/education and their social life. This disease usually starts in the first or second decades of life and can last for several decades, leading to the patient experiencing many years of disability and lost days due to migraine attacks.
