The evolving role of telemedicine in mental health

The COVID-19 pandemic presents an unprecedented and significant threat to mental health across the world due to continuing economic insecurity, the need for social distancing and isolation, and the general anxieties associated with a global pandemic. Perhaps fortuitously, it has also highlighted the need for effective digital tools that will augment mental health services during the pandemic and beyond. In this plenary lecture, Professor Roger McIntyre (Canada) explores the evolving role of digital tools in psychiatry and highlights the negative impact of social media on mental health during the pandemic.

This lecture was given at the Lundbeck-sponsored live webinar ‘How Technology Has Come to the Forefront in the Treatment of Mental Health’.
