Professor Meyer-Lindberg originally envisaged a career in neurology but after his first taste of psychiatry he was hooked by the unique patient-physician relationship and opportunity to get to know the whole patient portrait. We caught up with Professor Mayer-Lindberg at EPA.

Dr Stefanie Schmidt, from Bern in Switzerland spoke about efforts to predict and possibly prevent psychosis. Prof Danuta Wasserman from Stockholm, Sweden spoke about the relative impossibility of accurately predicting suicidal behaviour in an individual, and intervention initiatives now being investigated.

Professor McIntyre explained, the overarching aim of the THINC Task Force is to increase awareness of cognition - and cognition deficits – in depression– what is its pertinence, why assess it, why measure it and, importantly, why treat it?
